Answers to the questions we hear most before a site visit and quotation.
Epoxy flooring is applied as a coating over correctly prepared concrete flooring. Epoxy flooring is normally recommended for industrial applications like factories, warehouses, workshops, laboratories, and even some commercial buildings.
The cost of epoxy flooring varies according to the type of flooring, specifications of materials, thickness, floor conditions, preparation, and other variables that will depend on the scale of the project. It requires an assessment to determine the costs.
Epoxy flooring can fit factory floors if the chosen system takes into consideration all of the required criteria.
Heavy duty epoxy screed is a thicker type of flooring that is suited to particular harsh industrial floors. The suitability of such a floor depends on the particular flooring system chosen, the anticipated loadings, wear, and operating conditions.
The curing time of the epoxy floor depends on the product applied, floor temperature, curing conditions, and the thickness of the system. All manufacturer’s instructions should be followed before walking on, driving on, or working machinery on the floor.
Provide details about the size of the floor, the place where it is located, the state of the current floor, and the way it will be used. Information about heavy machinery usage, chemical exposure, and time periods is also helpful.
Self-leveling epoxy is an epoxy-based coating material that is applied onto an existing and prepared surface to give a smooth surface. Such flooring is suitable for certain types of industrial, commercial, and other interior floors.
The 2 mm self-leveling epoxy coating system involves the application of a thin layer of epoxy, while the 3 mm coating system involves a thick layer of epoxy coating.
Yes, it can be suitable for certain types of light industrial floors and pedestrian traffic floors.
Certainly not in all cases. While the 3 mm epoxy floor has more thickness, there are other factors that will determine which is the right choice in each case.
The amount of time needed to cure epoxy floors differs from one case to another depending on several factors, including the thickness of the coating, among others.
The factors influencing the quote are the thickness of the floor, material, area of the floor, repairs, etc. It is important to visit the site to provide the quotation.
An epoxy floor coating can be applied for protective purposes on suitable concrete substrates, reduce dust formation, improve aesthetic appearance, and ease the process of cleaning. It can be used in industries, warehouses, workshops, and commercial areas.
Epoxy floor paint tends to be used for thinner coatings, but epoxy coating can also apply to other types of coatings. There really isn’t any distinction since it all depends on what kind of product and how thick it is.
A 500-micron epoxy coating means a coating of nominal 0.5 mm. It may suit some lighter-duty applications, provided the concrete surface is suitable and the product claims so.
Yes, it may be appropriate for industrial floors requiring low traffic, general protection or dust suppression.
Traditional epoxy coating is usually applied in a thin layer, mostly with a roller or brush. Self-levelling epoxy coating is designed to spread in a smooth layer, and its thickness may be higher.
There are multiple factors that influence cost estimation, including thickness, materials used, condition of the floor, floor preparation, overall area, etc. Therefore, a quotation based on an actual project is more accurate than just a price.
Industrial painting is a service that involves preparation and coating of factory walls, steel structures, machine exteriors, and surfaces of warehouses and other industrial assets to increase their surface protection, durability and appearance.
Industrial painting can be used on structural steel, concrete walls, ceilings and metal surfaces, factory sheds, warehouse interiors and exteriors and any suitable substrate as per the requirements of the project.
The decision is made depending on the surface condition and exposure to water or chemicals, operating temperature requirements, mechanical wear and maintenance requirements. Site evaluation helps in determining the form of coating system to be utilized and also in the preparation of the coating system.
The price is determined by the overall surface area, the current condition of the surface, preparation, as well as the coating materials, the number of coats, accessibility of the sites, labour needs and project time. A site visit will be able to determine a more precise quote.
Surface preparation removes rust, dust, grease, flaking paint and any other form of impurities that may interfere with the coating adhesion. When it is well prepared, there will be a smoother finish and the possibility of peeling or loss of the coating will be removed before.
The time when the coating is repainted is determined by the coating system used, the exposure of the surface to the environment, the condition of the surface and the manner in which the surface is maintained. Peeling, corrosion, cracking, or any other deterioration can be detected through regular inspections that can be used to determine when maintenance or recoating will be necessary.
PU flooring is installed in industrial, commercial and certain specialized areas where protection, ease of cleaning, durability or flexibility of the flooring is needed. Typical applications include factories, food processing areas, dairies, warehouses and cold stores.
PU flooring contains polyurethane resins, and epoxy flooring contains epoxy resins and hardeners. Flexibility, UV resistance, chemical resistance and temperature properties of both products differ depending on the formulation. Selection of either product depends on the conditions of use at the installation site.
There is no single recommended thickness. Lightweight coating can be installed for less-demanding applications, and PU screeds are installed for more demanding environments.
Yes, it is possible to use suitable PU flooring in food processing applications. The selected flooring system must fulfill the hygiene, cleaning, temperature, and chemical resistance criteria.
A suitable polyurethane or polyurethane cement floor may be used for dairies and cold storage facilities. This should be appropriate according to the temperature, cleaning regime, traffic and substrates.
The cost of polyurethane floors depends on many factors such as the kind of system, the thickness, material specifications, floor preparation, repair works, size of the project, among others like coving or slip resistance coating.

ESD flooring is useful for controlling static electricity, especially in cases where the electronic parts are very sensitive. ESD flooring is used in such places as electronics assembly plants, laboratories, pharmaceutical industries, and clean rooms.
Anti-static flooring is basically any floor covering that minimizes static electricity. ESD flooring refers to floor coverings that meet specific criteria with regard to electrostatic discharge protection. The electrical performance of the ESD flooring must be tested and documented.
Not all ESD flooring systems will use the same method of grounding. Some ESD flooring will need copper grid or copper tape, but other ESD flooring will not use it.
It may be a good choice, provided that the system satisfies all the hygiene, cleaning, chemical resistance, and environmental requirements. The specifications of the product must be considered before installation.
The following are some of the determinants of cost; material, electrical properties, thickness, surface preparation, grounding, size and testing specifications. The most accurate means of determining cost is by developing a quotation based on site conditions.
Sometimes, it may be necessary to check that the floor meets the required level of performance. Testing frequency must be determined by the standard and documentation.
Car park flooring is a type of floor coating used for coating concrete floors in the parking lots. This floor may have various advantages, including improved durability and reduced maintenance.
There are various types of coatings that can be applied to basement parking lots. However, epoxy flooring is widely used for such an application. The actual coating will depend on several factors.
Some PU coatings are specifically made for outdoor parking lots. The actual coating will need to meet certain specifications.
The thickness is not constant as it varies from one coating to another depending on the traffic, substrate, product type, and whether the system is for basement, ramp, or deck.
Some of the factors affecting the rate include the type of coating material, floor surface area, surface preparation, repairs required, thickness of the coating, the need for an anti-skid coating, and the need for waterproofing and markings. It is advisable to get a site-based quotation.
It may be required due to the traction needed by cars and people. The texture depends on whether the floor will be wet or dry.
Epoxy coving creates a rounded connection in the joint area of the floor and walls. The coving system simplifies the cleaning process and is often used in industry, pharmaceuticals, food industry, and clean rooms.
In conventional skirting, a horizontal line is created along the lower edge of the wall, while the coving makes a rounded connection of the floor and wall. Industrial coving can be used for improving the accessibility of the surface for cleaning.
It is a nominal 75 mm coving measurement. Drawing or specification should make clear whether this measurement is based on the height, width or any other coving profile measurement.
Epoxy coving can be considered if material and coving profile correspond to the needs of the cleanroom.
Coving assists in reducing sharp corners where walls meet the floors and cleaning such junctions. Coving is used as a means of good hygiene but does not take the place of good sanitation and contamination control measures.
It varies with running meters, profile size, material used, surface preparation, repairs and corners. Site-based quotation is more accurate compared to a general pricing.
Floor marking services entail the painting of lines, arrows, symbols and boundaries on industrial or commercial floors. They assist in defining walkways, areas of storage and vehicle tracks as well as areas of choice in safety. Services can comprise planning of the layout, preparation of the surface, application, and final inspection.
Floor marking may be useful in manufacturing facilities, storage facilities, workshops, logistic centres, distribution facilities, and commercial buildings. It is applicable in any area where companies require defined movement routes, storage zones, equipment areas, or confined areas.
The general marking is done by the use of floor marking paint and the epoxy line marking consists of an epoxy-based coating system. The epoxy can be more resistant to abrasion in appropriate conditions, but the appropriate decision depends on the floor surface, traffic, the characteristics of the products, and the maintenance needs.
The width recommended is based on the purpose of the marking, site plan, visibility requirement, and needs that may apply. There are operational needs of pedestrian paths and forklift aisles. Dimensions are to be determined after considering traffic, size of equipment and clearances needed.
Yes. Warehouse aisles, movement routes, boundaries and selected areas of caution are usually marked with yellow line. Its meaning must align with the colour-coding system and safety measures of the warehouse.
Find a contractor that takes into account floor conditions, application techniques, surface preparation, and material compatibility, and layout requirements. Discuss the maintenance, line size, the exact extent of the quotation and cure time before starting the job.
An epoxy floor can be recoated in many cases provided the underlying layer is well bonded and surface is good to prepare. The floor is normally swept and either mechanically abraded or otherwise as per the coating system. Any loose or peeling material should be cleaned up and issues of moisture or adhesion should be addressed before another coat is applied.
Examples are improper surface preparation, oil or dust contamination, moisture in the substrate, unsuitable surface profile, incompatible coating layers or use outside the specified conditions of the product. The coating should be checked to find the probable cause and then the coating can be repaired. Otherwise, the identical issue can be repeated with the new layer.
The overall strategy is to strip off loose coating and unsound material, inspect and prepare the substrate, mend the defect with a compatible material, and finally, to rebuild the coating once it has cured. The technique is based on the damage and available accumulation of floor; repeat failures need to be evaluated initially.
In cases of minor wear, it can be sufficient to prepare and recoat the piece as long as the coating is in good condition. The cracks, holes, or detached parts might require removal and concrete repair as the first step. Do not apply over loose epoxy; observe the instructions on preparation and curing of the system.
The work can involve the inspection, the elimination of weak material, crack treatment, pothole repair, joint repair, surface preparation, levelling, and protective recoating where necessary. Each floor does not require all the steps. The end scope must be the one that mirrors the substrate, extent of damage, working conditions as well as the desired finish.
It must report the locations of work, apparent defects, how it is prepared, the proposed repair and coating systems, its exclusions, required access, and the curing time, and any assumptions that will be updated once it is inspected. Floor photos, measurements, conditions of use and location restrictions are offered to enable the contractor make a more relevant estimate.
It rectifies appropriate floor defects and provides an even surface upon which a given finish is going to be applied. There may also be a level or fall attained by some products. The correct system hinges on the substrate, depth and the ultimate flooring.
This may have dips, ridges or irregular transitions that indicate that levelling is necessary. A site inspection can determine the variation and it can be known whether a grinding or local repair is needed or a levelling layer is needed.
Sometimes, though, the surface upon which the item is to be placed needs to be clean, stable and in good condition. Bonding may be inhibited by old adhesive, paint, oil, loose material, moisture or movement. Prior to application, compatibility and preparation requirements are to be made.
There is no single drying time of the screeds. It is affected by the product, thickness, temperature, humidity, ventilation and substrate. Follow the product data sheet and verify the moisture requirements of final flooring system and subsequently cover the surface.
Yes, a compatible product can be installed where resin flooring specification allows it to be used. The underlayment should be solid, well-bonded, dry enough, and to the necessary profile. The moisture needs and epoxy manufacture substrate of the manufacturer should be verified.
The depth of floor variance, the nature of screed, bonding configuration, strength of substrate, intended load and the range of allowable thickness of the manufacturer all count. Deep variations can require dissimilar repairs or another build-up instead of a thin compound applied to the outside of its limits.
